    Korea began their Sudirman Cup campaign against Hong Kong in Malaysia on Monday.

    Hong Kong, being the only team in the elite group of the evening with their final shot at a berth in the quarter-finals, were eager to make their way past the former runners-up.

    Hong Kong scored the first point with victory in the mixed doubles with Korea levelling by winning the men's singles.

    Korea fielded Kim Ki Jung and Kim Sa Rang against Chan Yun Lung and Ng Ka Long in the men's doubles.

    Kim and Kim won the match in straight sets, 21-14 21-17, and Sung Ji Hyun's second victory over Yip Pui Yin in four meetings in the women's singles by 21-17 21-14 confirmed

    Korea's win and the elimination of Hong Kong.

    Korea's Jung Kyung Eun and Kim Ha Na then beat Hong Kong's Tse Ying Suet and Poon Lok Yan 21-10 21-15 in the women's doubles to make the final score 4-1.

    Korea will now face Thailand on Tuesday to decide which team will top the group before the beginning of the quarter-finals.
