Honours even on day two of America's Cup

Tuesday, September 10 2013 by SNTV
  • Intro:

The teams take one win each on the second day of racing in San Francisco Bay on Sunday (8th September).

    Script:

Although fog partially shrouded the race-course on San Francisco Bay, the racing was scintillating, at the second day of racing in the 34th edition of the Americas Cup.

After losing the first two races of the best-of-17 series, Oracle Team USA were desperate to make an impact. And the American team did just that, grabbing an early lead.

They were aggressive from the start but the Emirates Team New Zealand eventually overhauled them and went on to win the race by 28 seconds.

However Oracle won the second race of the day.

It was their first win of the series - and Emirates first loss since the Summer of Racing began in July.

For 132 years, the USA held the America's Cup until the 23rd challenge when Australia ended the longest winning streak in sports history.

Since then, the challenger has won the Cup five times; the defender four times
