  • Intro:

The Texas Rangers introduced Prince Fielder as their new first baseman, five days after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade of All-Stars, with popular second baseman Ian Kinsler going to the Detroit Tigers.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Fielder: "Well because, I thought it was going to be best for both teams or whatever. Best for me and best for the Tigers. I'm a team guy and you know, I said ok."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Fielder: "Just because, number one it's here, so you might as well accept it. You can call it a fresh start, it's got to be fresh no matter what. And plus, last year - it was last year and everyone was on me about my performance and rightfully so - I sucked. But I mean, I didn't have to be reminded of it. So hopefully we can make some better memories here."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Washington: "Well number one his presence. Number two he's been a very productive player. We certainly this winter were searching to get more production in our lineup and I don't think (general manager) Jon Daniels could have given us an earlier Christmas present than giving us Prince Fielder. We're not brining us here to put us on his back, we're just bringing him here to fit in and do what he's done all of his career to this point. And I think just having him in our lineup will make a big difference for the rest of the guys in that lineup. So we're very happy to have him. I know I'm very happy to have him. I know I've always enjoyed watching him play from afar. Now I get a chance to watch him on a daily basis, so I'm very pleased."
