Berdych overcomes Ferrer to reach last four

    Tomas Berdych reached his first Australian Open semi-final as he beat No. 3-seeded David Ferrer 6-1, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 on Tuesday.

    Tomas Berdych is through to the Australian Open semi-finals for the first time after overcoming third seed David Ferrer.

    The Czech world number seven raced into a two set lead, however Ferrer, whose well known for his battling qualities, took the third set.

    Despite the Spaniard's best efforts, Berdych took control again in the fourth.

    The seventh seed eventually serving out to set up a meeting with Novak Djokovic's conqueror, Stanislas Wawrinka, in the semi-finals.

    Berdych has now completed a set of semi-final appearances at all four Grand Slams, but will be looking to go all the way to the final in Melbourne this year.
