Intro:
Gerrie Nel, chief prosecutor in the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius, accused the Olympic athlete of egotistical behaviour in his relationship with Reeva Steenkamp - before he killed her.
Script:
SOUNDBITE: (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:
"'She knew, why did she not run'. Is that what you meant? That's what she is trying to say and you agree. 'I had to go to training, I had to go to lunch'. It's about you."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:
"But, I'm putting it to you. You are not willing to concede anything. Oscar Pistorius will not take responsibility or concede anything. That's what you're doing to your own evidence."
UPSOUND: (English) Oscar Pistorius (not in vision):
"Is that a question my lady?"
Nel:
"Yes, it's a question, are you?"
Pistorius:
"No my lady, I have conceded on several occasions. I cannot agree with a statement that's put to me if I don't have a recollection of that event."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Gerrie Nel, Prosecutor:
"Who told you?"
UPSOUND: (English) Oscar Pistorius (not in vision):
"I don't recall my lady."
UPSOUND: laughter
Nel:
"(laughter) No, no, I apologise my lady for laughing, I won't do it again. But I was surprised by the answer. I apologise, I really do."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Thokozile Masipa, Judge:
"I hope it doesn't happen again."
Pistorius:
"I've said time and time again what I perceived and what I thought. I don't understand. It was put to me yesterday that it was by accident and now it's put to me it wasn't by accident. I don't understand my lady. I'm saying that I didn't intend to shoot, my firearm was pointed at the door, because that's where I believed that somebody was. When I heard a noise I didn't have time to think and I fired my weapon. It was an accident."
