Nel has criticised former policeman and current forensic expert Roger Dixon, for testifying in areas in which he had no expertise.
At the end of proceedings on Thursday, the case will be adjourned for two weeks by order of the presiding judge.
Pistorius is charged with premeditated murder and faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if found guilty.
