  • Intro:

German number two seeds Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst will take on Wang Fan and Yue Yuan of China in the final of Beach Volleyball's Shanghai Grand Slam event after both pairs came through against Brazilian opposition in the semi-finals on Sunday.

    Script:

It was women's semi-finals day at the Shanghai Grand Slam on Saturday. The first had the potential to be a classic, defending champions Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst of Germany faced top seeds Brazilians Talita Antunes and Taiana Lima.

And it was the top ranked pair who won the first set 21-18, although the winning point was controversial, the German's felt Lima had commited a carrying infringement at the net.

Perhaps a sense of injustice inspired the number two seeds as they took the next set 21-16 and the decisive one 15-12.

So that left just one Brazilian pair in the competition Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas De Freitas. They won their first set against China's Wang Fan and Yue Yuan but the home crowd enjoyed the Chinese pair's response to take the next 21-17.

And then Fan and Yuan took the decisive set 15-10 to reach their first ever final on the World Tour.
