Azahara Munoz and Austin Ernst had strong finishes Thursday to share the first-round lead in the Kingsmill Championship at six-under-par 65.

After taking a week off, the U.S. LPGA was back in action on Wednesday, teeing off the first round of the Kingsmill Championship.
The top two scores of the day came in the morning wave as Austin Ernst and Azahara Munoz each shot six-under 65s. Ernst, an American who missed the cut at four of her last five tournaments, closed her opening round with birdies on 7 and 9 to get to six under.
Munoz got to six-under on her last hole of the round with a birdie at the par 4 9th.
Alejandra Llaneza, a five-time Mexican Junior National champion, is in good shape here. Llaneza had the shot of the day to end her opening round, eagling the 9th to close out a card of three-under 68.
Defending champion Christie Kerr sank three birdies in a four-hole span on the back nine on her way to an opening round of four-under 67, one of seven golfers in joint fourth place.
Stacy Lewis comes to Kingsmill with a chance to take over the world number one rank from Inbee Park. The American made it into red numbers with a birdie on the par-five 15th and held on to sign a one-under 70.Charley Hull also opened with a solid one-under 70. The pair sit 5 shots back of joint leaders Ernst and Munoz.
