  • Intro:

Crystal Palace caretaker manager Keith Millen confirms his interest in filling the vacancy at Selhurst Park. The 47-year-old also discusses the alleged “sexist, racist and homophobic” text messages sent by Malky Mackay -- the ex-Cardiff City manager who was favourite to take over at Palace -- and Iain Moody -- the Welsh club's former head of recruitment who resigned as sporting director of the south London side on Thursday morning. Palace host West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday (KO 15:00 BST).

SOUNDBITE (English): Keith Millen, Crystal Palace caretaker manager (on whether he wants to be Crystal Palace's full-time manager):

"I've spoken to the chairman, we've had conversations every day. That will remain private between ourselves, obviously. If we can get a result and three points on Saturday then my case becomes stronger. The chairman has said all along that he will go out there and see what's available, he will then make a decision on who's the best person for the job."

SOUNDBITE (English): Keith Millen, Crystal Palace caretaker manager:

"The good thing is the chairman doesn't feel like he needs to rush or panic into appointing someone. He's got confidence in myself to do the job. He has got time, he wants to make sure it's the right person."

SOUNDBITE (English): Keith Millen, Crystal Palace caretaker manager:

"We know on Saturday against West Ham that they will be strong. They're a big side, they work on set-pieces and we've got to make sure we get back to being solid ourselves."

SOUNDBITE (English): Keith Millen, Crystal Palace caretaker manager (on conducting transfers while the club is manager-less):

"I think we need to look at what we need -- what positions we need to suit our style of play and the group of players we've got. I think if we can come up with some names then whoever takes over, we can at least say this is what we feel we need to continue what we're doing here."

SOUNDBITE (English): Keith Millen, Crystal Palace caretaker manager (on whether Malky Mackay and Iain Moody will work in football again if allegations against them are true):

"I don't know, honestly it's a difficult one -- it's only just happened. It's a very difficult thing to justify, they can't be saying those sort of things, if they're true. So it would be difficult, but you don't know in time."
