  • Intro:

Post game reaction after the Kansas City Royals beat the Orioles 8-6 in extra innings of the American League Championship Series' game one in Baltimore on Friday (October 10th).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles manager:

"They've been hitting home runs.... lately. I mean, it is what it is. It was a good ball game except the Orioles didn't win. I'm sure it was entertaining. I know it was a lot drier where y'all were, but just glad it wasn't too bad for the fans, but didn't like the way it ended. A lot of good things. Really proud of the way our guys battled back.... to challenge, especially with (James) Shields out there, but strung some at-bats together and got back in it. Some good things. I won't forget those."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals manager (on hitting home runs in Camden Yards)

"This is a park that's a lot more conducive to hitting home runs than our ballpark is and you put our club in this ballpark we would have hit a lot more home runs than we ended up hitting. So, showed tonight. I mean it was a good night."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals manager:

"I don't know, we just find ways to win ballgames. Sometimes it's hitting home runs, sometimes it's stealing bases and manufacturing runs and most of the time it's with good pitching and defence. But.... these guys will find a way to get it done."
