Marco Materazzi's Chennaiyin took on ex-England keeper David James' Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League on Tuesday.

Chennaiyin right-back Abhishek Das won a penalty when he was fouled by centre-back Gurwinder Singh. The 28-year-old had every right to feel aggrieved as he won the ball cleanly.

Ex-Manchester City playmaker Elano then converted the spot kick to put Chennaiyin in front.

Kerala's Chinadorai Sabeeth then struck the post in front of co-owner and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The visitors refused to be bowled over.

They very nearly were when Chennaiyin forward John Mendoza's penalty appeal was waved away by the referee.

In the second half, Kerala's Ian Hume netted from close range to equalise.

But ex-Hull City defender Bernard Mendy then scored a sensational overhead kick. The former Tiger clawed Chennaiyin back into the lead, who held on to win 2-1.
