SOUNDBITE : Alex Gordon, Kansas City Royals Outfielder

"Yeah, it was a great game tonight. Both sides, great pitching, great defence. Every pitch mattered tonight, where maybe the first two games it wasn't like that. Jeremy did a great job, and obviously our bullpen doing it all year. So it was just a great game by both sides."

SOUNDBITE: Jeremy Guthrie, Kansas City Royals Pitcher

"I'll just say when you have great defence and you have lock-down bullpen pitching, you have a tendency to be in those types of games, and that's what we've had throughout the season. And fortunately for us right now, we've got guys throwing the ball great in the back end of the bullpen, and able to hold on to these small leads."

SOUNDBITE: Alex Gordon, Kansas City Royals Outfielder

"You know, I don't really know. Hopefully we can get a big lead and have a comfortable game. But it's probably not going to happen with these two teams. We kind of match up the same."

SOUNDBITE: Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager

"Oh, yeah. This is the way our games have gone all year. I'm getting really good at protecting a one-run lead because a lot of times that's exactly what we have to deal with. But I have the necessary tools to be able to do that. It's not me doing it. It's the guys that we put out there that are doing it. We have the type of pitchers in our bullpen that can accomplish that."

SOUNDBITE: Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants Manager

"When you're facing this type of staff, you're hoping to put a little pressure on them, and hopefully the heart of your order comes up with men on base. We had the one inning because of (Michael) Morse. He got us back in the ballgame. We had the tying run there on third with Sandoval up, and Buster, he put the ball in play and he got another run in. That's a productive out. That's what you want. But, again, you've got to give credit to their pitching. They did a great job tonight. We got four hits, and we'll wash this off and come out and be ready to go tomorrow."
