Southampton emphatically brought an end to their run of five successive losses in all competitions by beat Everton 3-0 at St Mary's on Saturday.

A Romelu Lukaku own-goal and efforts from Graziano Pelle - his 11th club goal of the season - and Maya Yoshida sealed the points for the fifth-placed Saints, who are two points behind West Ham.

    SOUNDBITE: (English)

"We had a great, unbelievable spirit today. We changed the system. I think it's always important if you change the system. The players need to be comfortable in that system. And we spoke about that. We had two sessions to do that in a different way than usually. And we had good organisation and I think the key to winning today was win the battles in midfield. I think Harry Reed was outstanding. He was showing, with a lot of energy.... and you need that to play. To have the best of yourself, and then normally, mostly you have the luck on your side."

"It the most disappointing moment in the way that we defended our box. That's the only thing. I think we were a little bit soft. We got done too easily with three balls that went into the six-yard box. Nothing else."

SUPER CAPTION: Roberto Martinez, Everton manager

    SOUNDBITE: (English)

"I don't think the referee is to blame for our defeat. I think we are the ones to blame for the defeat. I don't think we defended any simple ball in the box well enough. I think we are a lot better. Our record shows we are a lot better in that respect and that's where we lost the game, clearly."
