The Euroleague recognised one of their very best on Friday night - Arvydas Sabonis won six Euro player of the year awards during his career,

And the Lithuanian wasn't disappointed on his 50th birthday as Zalgiris Kaunas clinched their ticket to the Top 16 with a one point win over Dinamo Banco.

Also in Group A, a do-or-die game for both teams went down to the final minute, Nizhny Novgorod ultimately snatching their first-ever Top 16 place from Unics Kazan 78-74.

In the only game in Group B, previously eliminated Cedevita Zagreb secured a stunning victory over ALBA Berlin by 70 points to 67.

Despite losing, ALBA just qualify for the Top 16 in fourth place in the group.

Into Group C, and Fenerbahce downed FC Bayern Munich at home 87-81.

The result hands Fenerbahce an 8-2 record and a Top 16 spot with a second-place finish in the group.

But Bayern failed to make the grade and will join the Eurocup Last 32 in early 2015.

The other Group C game came in Athens.

FC Barcelona stormed to a first-place finish by dominating Panathinaikos Athens on the road for a 67-80 victory.

Finally, Crvena Zvedzda wrapped up second spot in Group D with a 90-82 win over Laboral Kuxta Vitoria.

The Top 16 will begin on 30 December with the final taking place in Madrid in May.
