Asteras Tripolis ground out a 2-0 win at home to Panionis in Greece's Super League on Saturday (24th January).

Panathinaikos were looking to stay in touch with the leaders in the Greek Superleague when they hosted Kalloni on Saturday.

Panathinaikos started the game in 3rd place, eight points off leaders Olympiakos.

The best chance of the first half fell to Chritos Bourbos, when he let fly in the 25th minute.

The men in Green continued to control the game and they appeared to take the lead within 15 seconds of the restart.

Yet replays showed Berg was clearly in an offside position.

Berg wasn't to be denied. The Swede using his strength to give Panathinaikos a 1-0 and consolidating third.

The win for Panathinaikos meant that Asteras Tripolis sat eight points off them in fourth.

Their opponents Panionios sat down in 15th, yet the conditions appeared to be a leveller in Tripolis.

The home side seemed unconcerned by the weather as they took the lead in the third minute,

And it was Asteras who found the all important second.
