PSV extend Eredivisie lead at Cambuur

  • Intro:

PSV Eindhoven went seven points clear at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie following Saturday's (January 24) 2-1 win at Cambuur Leeuwarden.

    Script:

After a shock Dutch Cup defeat to second division Roda on Tuesday (January 20), PSV were hoping their so far successful Eredivisie season would get them back on track.

10 wins and a draw in their last 11 league fixtures sees Eindhoven top by four points & it was they who took a first half lead at Cambuur.

Jetro Willems whipping in from the right - and Georginio Wijnaldum headed home.

While Cambuur dominated the possession, it was PSV who found the sucker punches.

Memphis Depay cleverly improvising for the visitors' second.

And his eleventh of the season.

The home side had to wait until injury time for their deserved goal & it came from Daniel de Ridder's free kick.

2-1 was how it finished as PSV move seven points clear of Ajax, with the Champions playing Feyenoord on Sunday.
