"I owe to football who I am. And I feel it's time to pay back what I have received over many years. I decided to become a candidate for FIFA Presidency. It was a well thought decision, born on the will to change, a reforming vision and the need to give more transparency to an institution that has been losing credibility and mobilising capacity. I look to FIFA's reputation at this moment and I don't like what I see. Football deserves better. Over the last weeks, months and even years I've watched a degradation of the institution's image and I feel it's time to revert this reality. FIFA must be a respected institution again and cherished all around the world. Football, the game, must again be the focus of FIFA. I have spoken to many people in football: Players, coaches and FA presidents. All of them consider that something must be done. I was a professional football player and have worked on all its levels throughout my life. I think I know what's best for it."
