    Karin Knapp beat Roberta Vinci 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1 in an all-Italian final in Nuremburg on Saturday (23rd May) to claim her second WTA title.

    An all-Italian final for the Nuremberg Cup - Karin Knapp up against Roberta Vinci.

    On the eve of the French Open, it was the final opportunity for the players to pick up a morale boosting tournament win ahead of their trip to Roland Garros.

    And Vinci started stronger - racing to a 3-0 lead in the first set, before Knapp staged a comeback to force a tiebreaker, which she narrowly won 7-5.

    Vinci responded by taking the second set 6-4.

    But the 32-year-old ran out of steam in the decider to miss out on her 10th career title - Knapp dominating to take the set 6-1 and the title.

    The 27-year-old hasn't tasted victory on the senior circuit since her breakthrough triumph in September 2014 at the Tashkent Open.

    The sixth-seeded Knapp forcing 17 break points to beat her compatriot in two hours and six minutes.
