    Dominic Thiem won his first title on the ATP Tour on Sunday (23rd May) after the 21 year-old Austrian beat number four seed Leonardo Mayer of Argentina 6-7(8), 7-5, 7-6(2) in the final of the Nice Open in France.

    World number 42, Dominic Thiem came from a a set down on the ATP tour to defeat Leonardo Mayer in the Open de Nice Cote d'Azur final.

    The Austrian's only other appearance in a ATP final was then he lost to David Goffin in Kitzbuhel last year.

    The opening set went Mayers way and Thiem went a set point down in the first set tiebreak and Meyer takes it with a backhand down the line.

    Mayer served at 5-6 in the second set, Thiem took the point with a backhand which almost hits Mayer at the net.

    It reached 30-40 and Thiem took the point and the set after Mayer hit a long forehand.

    Thiem then served at 5-2 in the third set tiebreak and it went to 6-2 after Mayer netted a backhand.

    Thiem served at match point in the third set tiebreak, Mayer hit a forehand wide and Thiem took the match.

    After two hours and 28 minutes of action in Nice, Thiem hit 44 winners, seven aces and saved all six break points to win him his first crown.
