  • Intro:

    Turkey beat Germany 3-2 (25-20, 26-28, 29-31, 25-14, 16-18) in Stuttgart, Germany, on Friday

    Script:

Turkey took on Germany in the World Volleyball Grand Prix, in search of their first win of the tournament..

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Germany took the first set 25-20.

But Turkey retaliated, to level the scores at a set apiece as they took the second 28-26

The momentum was clearly with Turkey in the third set, as they edged it 31-29 to go 2-1 up.

And to add more drama to the match, Germany came back fighting in the fourth with a convincing 25-14 win to force a fifth set.

It was Turkey's day, however, as they snuck an 18-16 win to earn them a hard-fought first victory in a match that lasted almost three hours.

For Germany though, the loss means their progress into the nbext part of the competition is now in doubt.
