SOUNDBITE: (English) Peter Schmeichel, Former Manchester United goalkeeper (on David de Gea):

"I'm very, very thankful, for what he's done for Manchester United and I wouldn't hold nothing against him if he moves on. But, I want the situation to be resolved. I think it's, it's an absolute joke that it's carried on into the season (his possible transfer to Real Madrid), because a club like Manchester United, being in a transition period, needed to be ready for the season with every issue resolved, and not having two or three still hanging out there. But, hopefully it gets resolved now."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Peter Schmeichel, Former Manchester United goalkeeper (on David de Gea):

"But I just want the situation resolved. I want to know, as a fan, is he with us or is he somewhere else? And if he's not with us I want the manager to have the opportunity to go out and buy another goalkeeper. That, as a fan, I think is the most important thing."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Peter Schmeichel, Former Manchester United goalkeeper:

"I think it's obvious that (Manchester United manager Louis) van Gaal is looking and he's trying to bring in players. I'm quite happy that Pedro didn't happen because Pedro didn't seem for me the right kind of guy, and he chose Chelsea, so.... for me, I want someone who chooses Manchester United because he wants to play for the best football club in the world, and I think those guys are out there. There are some options and I'm convinced that something is happening that we don't know about and suddenly they'll call you in and, they'll tell you all the good news. But I think yes, it's, a lot of pressure to put on the few strikers that are there at the moment. I think, for a long season and to be successful in the Champions League with international duties as well, I think you need more players to, to do what's needed for Manchester United. So it would be nice to bring in a striker before the end of the transfer window."
