Poland cruise past Tunisia in FIVB World Cup opener

  • Poland beat Tunisia 3-0 in the FIVB World Cup round robin on Tuesday (8th September).

    Script: Poland took on Tunisia in the FIVB World Cup opening round in Hamamatsu in Japan on Tuesday.

    Tunisia were out for revenge - in the two previous times the sides have met, Poland have been the victors on each ocassion.

    Although Tunisia have been present at eight World Cups, they have only ever finished higher than the bottom two once.

    And that didn't look like changing - as Poland took the first set 25-17.

    They capitalised on their opening set momentum, to take the second 25-15.

    Tunisia staged a brief fightback in the hird and edged closer to Poland, but only managed 20 points to Polands 25.

    Bartosz Kurek was awarded MIP while Rafal Buszek scored the most points for Poland with 15 in their comfortable three set win.

    The 2011 runners up will have the vhance to avenge their final defeat from gour years ago, when they reigning champions Russia on Wednesday.

    Meanwhile, Tunisia play Iran.
