Melbourne go top, but fans walk out

Sunday, November 29 2015 by SNTV
  • Melbourne Victory defeat Adelaide United in the Australian A-League on 2-1 on Saturday (28th November), as fans stage walk-out to protest against the Football Federation Australia for not allowing for appeals by supporters that have received stadium bans - after a list with the names and photos of 198 people banned from A-League venues was exposed in a media report earlier this month

When your team's winning the last thing you'd want to do is walk out - but the Melbourne Victory faithful did just that on Saturday.

Sometimes it's worth missing the sporting action to get your point across.

It began as a routine A-League game, winless Adelaide away to champions Melbourne Victory.

Melbourne doubled the lead on 30 minutes when Oliver Bozanic drove this free-kick past Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.

But then came the talking point, Victory fans protesting against Football Federation Australia because they won't let A-League supporters who've received stadium bans appeal.

On the pitch, Adelaide United were given a lifeline three minutes from stoppage-time when Melbourne fouled in the box.
United substitute Marcelo Carrusca fired home.

But it was too late to stop Victory in their tracks, their 2-1 win moves them back up to the top of the league. Adelaide remain winless and stay bottom.
