  • Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren spoke on Friday (12 February) about his team's Premier League fixture against Chelsea.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve McClaren, Newcastle manager

    (on Chelsea)

"I think (Guus) Hiddink has come in and done a great job, settled the squad down, got them back to being hard to beat, grinding out results, 11 games unbeaten. I know they've drawn quite a few, but been hard to beat. They've got so many talented players in their front four so can win games at any time. They're very dangerous opponents and a tough game for us."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve McClaren, Newcastle manager:

(on going to Stamford Bridge to win)

"We're going there to win. I think that's what we've always done, all season, maybe that's to our detriment that we've gone for the win. We can't sit back, we can't soak up pressure and hit teams on the break, we have to be on our front foot and so that's how we play."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve McClaren, Newcastle manager:

(on having good history against Chelsea)

"History... you always say it's the next game and you have to go into that and forget history. It's a one off game and they're quite capable of winning games at home and as you say we've got a good record there. We've got to go there with no fear, have a go, it's live on Sky, we owe it to the away fans to give a performance and hopefully get a result."
