Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on Friday (12 February) looked ahead to Sunday's (14 February) English Premier League match at home to leaders Leicester City.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(On Leicester's season.)
"They have certainly silenced all the doubters since the start of the season. Everybody thought at Christmas they would not be there (top of the league) and more, we are now nearly at Easter and they are still there. I think in the last week they have become a solid potential winner of the Premier League."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(On Leicester's playing approach.)
"It's true that their strength is to go very quick in transition from defence to offence and that you have to nullify their pace and their counter-attacking potential. And on our side, we want of course to dominate the game and have the ball and be dangerous."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(Reporter: ...general feeling of 'the Leicester fairytale'? It's very romantic.)
Arsene Wenger: "Of course it's very romantic, and I understand the whole country. I said that last week in a press conference that's human. And I think it's as well... good for football. And it goes against as well a little bit the demand of usual practice in our game - it's spend, buy big stars. And it's important as well to know that with quality work and with quality scouting and quality management, you can have great results."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(On the match.)
"The pressure is on us as well, of course. I don't deny that. But I take that in a very positive way and as an opportunity to show how strong we are."
