Latvala takes Rally of Mexico day two lead

  • Jari-Matti Latvala led the way at the end of day two of the World Rally Championship at Guanajuato Mexico on Friday

    Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala won five of Friday's seven special stages to take the lead in the Rally Guanajuato Mexico - the third round of the 2016 WRC season.

    The Volkswagen driver finished outside of the top three on only special stage - finishing in fourth place - ending the day with a 32.1-second lead over the field.

    His closest rival after day two was three-time defending world champion Sebastien Ogier of France.

    Dani Sordo will head into Saturday's (5th March) action third overall, one minute and 16 seconds behind Latvala and 43.5 seconds in arrears of Ogier.

    Local driver Benito Guerra crashed out of the race on Friday, causing irreparable damage to his Citroen after landing heavily.
