Farah takes bronze in Cardiff

Sunday, March 27 2016 by SNTV
  • Kenyans won both the men's and women's events at the World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff on Saturday (26th March) as Mo Farah won Bronze.

It was a good day for Kenya in Cardiff on Saturday at the World Half Marathon Championships.

There was a Kenyan clean sweep in the woman's race as Pascalia Jepchirchir, Cynthia Limo and Mary Wacera Ngugi broke away to claim the medals.

Watched on by IAAF President Sebastian Coe Jepchirchir claimed gold in 67:31, with Limo second and Ngugi third.

The Kenyan's also dominated the men's race, although Great Britain's Mo Farah was also in the mix.

Despite the home support Farah was unable to chase down the Kenyan duo of Geoffrey Kamworor and Bedan Karoki.

Kamworor took gold to retain his title with Karoki in second.

Farah managed to dramatically hold off Abayneh Ayele to take bronze, to the delight of the soggy spectators in Cardiff.

However, the day certainly belonged to Kenya.
