South Korean champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors qualified for the knockout phase of the AFC Champions League as Group E winners on Wednesday (4th May), following a 2-2 draw with China's Jiangsu Suning.

FC Tokyo of Japan grabbed the second qualification spot from Group E at the expense of Jiangsu after they beat Binh Duong of Vietnam 2-1 in Thu Dau Mot.

Jeonbuk Motors and Jiangsu Suning both went into their final AFC Champions League Group E game with the chance of winning it outright and gaining a more favourable draw in the last 16 of the competition.

Hosts Jeonbuk took an early lead in the contest when they were awarded a penalty in the 18th minute after Yang Xiaotian had fouled Choi Chul Soon.

Leonardo making no mistake from the spot to put the home side ahead at the Jeonju World Cup stadium.

However, their advantage didn't last long. Alex Teixeira volleyed in an equaliser in the 24th minute.

One-one at half time - that scoreline would have taken both teams through, as long as FC Tokyo were unable to beat Binh Duong in Vietnam in the other Group E match.

Eight minutes after the restart Jiangsu then got a penalty of their own. This time Luiz Henrique judged to have fouled Ramirez

Joao Alves then drilled the ball home to put the visitors ahead at two one.

Jeonbuk were determined not to be beaten though and made it 2-2 in the 68th minute - Lim Jong Eun's classy finish giving the Jiangsu goalkeeper no chance.

And that was how it remained at the end, Jeonbuk took top spot in Group E on 10 points from their six games.
