Injured Dzagoev irreplaceable at Euros - Russia coach

Wednesday, May 25 2016 by SNTV
  • Russia coach Leonid Slutsky looked ahead to his side's Euro 2016 Group B campaign on Tuesday (24th May).

SOUNDBITE (Russian) Leonid Slutsky, Russian national football team coach:
"Sure it's a painful loss for our team losing Dzagoev. But I'm sure that we have players who will be able to step in for Alan, although he is one of the key players in the team."

"Despite the fact that both teams are from the UK their style is absolutely different. It's obvious that the UK teams are group favourites. Wales depends on Gareth Bale a lot. I think we will prepare for any of the teams and will try to play using our advantages to achieve results."

"As to the excitement ahead of the Euros, there isn't any so far because there is plenty of time (until the start). So taking into account the grandiosity of the event perhaps we will be able to feel it emotionally when we arrive at the venue ahead of these important matches. We are fully concentrated on preparation so far."
