Sri Lanka hoping to restore pride in Second Test

Thursday, May 26 2016 by SNTV
  • Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella said on Wednesday (25th May) that the team had discussed how to deal with bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad ahead of the second Test in Durham.

Sri Lanka, according to their wicketkeeper are raring to fightback...

"It was a bad Test for us and we are hoping to give a good comeback in this Test and to get used to these conditions. We have another two Test matches and we are hoping to give a good comeback."

The Sri Lankans lost the first test at Headinley by an innings and 88 runs and Dickwella admits their were lengthy discussions following.

"We had a big meeting and now we have some plans for them. We are trying to apply those plans in the middle."

One of Sri Lanka's lead bowlers, Dushmantha Chameera, has been ruled out of the Durham test but Dickwella insists they'll put on a performance for their supporters.

"As professional cricketers we have to manage somehow and we have to perform for our country, that's the main thing we are targeting at the moment."

Sri Lanka are heavy unfancied for the test in typically English conditions. Yet win, and they head to Lord's at 1-all to far friendlier batting conditions.
