  • Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee won the French Open by four shots on at Le Golf National, the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup.

    Martin Kaymer shot a one-under par round of 70 to leave him at 4-under overall in a three-way tie for fifth.

    Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello was one of the day's big movers. A 4-under par 67 in round four left him at 5-under for the tournament and a fourth placed finish.

    Rory McIlroy started the round two shots behind leader Jaidee, but bogeyed the third and made his only birdie on 14, shooting an even par round of 71.

    He finished a stroke behind Francesco Molinari who was came second after shooting 66, the lowest round of the final day.

    But no-one could catch Jaidee who shot a 3-under 68 to finish on 11-under 273 at Le Golf National where the 2018 Ryder Cup will be staged.

    After his impressive display of front-running, he won by four strokes for his eighth victory on the European Tour, collecting 650,000 (US) dollars for the biggest cheque of his career.
