Strong finish pleases Yang

  • Early second-round reaction from Amy Yang, Jessica Korda, Lexi Thompson and Charley Hull at the U.S. Women's Open on Friday, 8 July.

SOUNDBITE (English): Amy Yang, shot a 1-under-par 71 (-6 Overall):

"Yesterday I hit it, I drove it so good, so I gave myself many opportunities out there. But today I had some trouble hitting tee shots, hitting into rough and trying to save up and down. But I finished good. I did good, yeah."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jessica Korda, shot a 2-under-par 70 (-4 Overall):

"It's firm in the afternoon. This morning, like I said, it was really soft. They can't really play it firm in the mornings, because then it's going to be unplayable in the afternoon. It's definitely firm and a lot more kind of open golf course, versus the typical U.S. Open courses that we played.”

SOUNDBITE (English): Lexi Thompson, shot a 1-over-par 73 (+3 Overall):

"It’s been tough. I just haven't really hit it that well. U.S. Open weeks are mentally tough to begin with but if you struggle hitting it's even tougher, you just gotta stay patient and stay in it so hopefully I’ll be around for the weekend."

SOUNDBITE (English): Charley Hull, shot a 3-over-par 75 (+5 Overall):

"Not at all really, I've been playing really solid the last couple of days, I just didn't really hole any putts to be honest. The greens are pretty slow but I just couldn't get my head around it, like, I hit something like on like but they just kept coming up short but I’m quite happy with the way I played."
