  • Highlights from Day 2 of the Open Championship at Royal Troon

Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen emerged as the early challenger to Phil Mickelson on Day 2 of the Open. This impressive bunker shot at the 5th allowed him to save par

He bettered that on the 17th, sinking this one from even further to cement his place in the top three with a round of 68.

Mickelson remains the man to catch. This was his first birdie of the day at the 4th, more followed at the 7th and 8th.

Missing this putt for par on the 12th resulted in his first dropped shot of the championship, but his round of 69 means he retains the lead on 10 under

His closest challenger is Henrik Stenson who shot the best round of the day, a six-under-par 65. This bunker shot at the 4th set him up for the second of three straight birdies.

Very little went right for Jordan Spieth, and he only just made the cut, this double bogey at th 6th summing it up

Jason Day suffered dropped shots in the back 9 and fell back to one over

Rory McIlroy made a promising start. But four bogeys in five holes saw his challenge falter, and he ended the day tied for 15th on two under par.
