Speith and Day discuss tricky conditions

Sunday, July 17 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from Jordan Speith and Jason Day after a wet and windy end to day two of the Open Championship from Royal Troon, Scotland on Friday (15th July).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jordan Spieth, United States (on whether he has played in such heavy rain and wind):

"What we had on the 16th tee when I looked up and you see the sheets of water moving sideways, legitimately sheets of water moving sideways, man, if I've played in that, it's been over here on a practice round day or I can't remember. I can't remember anything that significant. I can't remember seeing the wind move a ball that much."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Day, Australia (on weather conditions):

"Yeah, it was little frustrating and I'm looking over the Rules Official and like what's going on, yeah unfortunately we got to keep pushing on ...I'm like, there is lightning over there...we totally expected to have conditions that were going to be difficult, but not to the point where it was blowing 30 to 40 miles an hour with winds and rain coming in sideways. I think I went through four gloves during that little time span, and it was coming down pretty heavy on me. My weather gear is totally soaked now, and I've got to somehow dry it out before tomorrow."
