  • The Badminton World Federation (BWF) cleared Thai badminton star Ratchanok Intanon of doping on Monday (18th July) allowing her to compete in this summer's Rio Olympics.

Thai badminton star Ratchanok Intanon has been cleared of doping by the BWF, and will be allowed to participate in this summer's Rio Olympics.

Intanon was banned after failing a doping test in May, where she tested positive for triamcinolone acetonide.

However, an investigation found that the substance was injected as part of ongoing medical treatment, with no violation of rules taking place.

As a result Intanon can restart training ahead of the Rio Olympics.

Intanon became eh first Thai woman to top the Badminton world rankings in April, with this ruling a major boost for the Thai Olympic team.
