  • The American consortium that has purchased a controlling interest in English Premier League side Swansea City will eventually acquire 68 per cent of the club, according to Jason Levien, who leads the consortium with fellow American Steve Kaplan.

Levien appeared at a press conference with chairman Huw Jenkins on Frida (July 22).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Levien, head of Swansea City's majority shareholding consortium:

"We certainly want to make sure that the club and Huw have the resources necessary to succeed. We want to be strategic about it and thoughtful about it. We're not looking to make a huge splash at the expense of stability and consistency and sustainability. Those are key ingredients for us."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Levien, head of Swansea City's majority shareholding consortium:

"I certainly think that the success that Wales had this summer has been tremendous, and in recent history, the love of football and the success of football here is important. Our primary role is to win matches in the Premier League and to compete in the Premier League and having a local flavour to that is helpful, but our priority one, two and three is having success on the pitch and that's why we're fortunate to have someone like Huw really steering the ship for us."
