  • Johanna Konta advanced to the first WTA final of her career with a straight-sets victory over Dominika Cibulkova at the Bank of the West Classic on Saturday (23rd July).

    Dominika Cibulkova may have been seeded second for the Bank of the West Classic,

    But the Slovakian found it difficult to cope with the power of Johanna Konta.

    The in-form Briton produced an excellent first set to win 6-4, finishing the set off with an ace.

    Konta was even more impressive in the second, The British number one hit seven aces - and surrendered a mere six points during the match on her service game.

    Having reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January, Konta is enjoying a rise in her career.

    Now she is through to her first WTA final after a 6-4, 6-2 win in just 74 minutes.
