FIFA to increase anti-doping program - Infantino

  • During a television interview in Nigeria on Monday (25th July), FIFA President Gianni Infantino discussed doping in football and his presence in Africa a place where he feels he receives a lot of support.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Gianni Infantino, FIFA President

    "FIFA, as well as the confederations, have a very complete anti-doping program with thousands of tests in and out of competition, which are carried out. We at FIFA are looking how we can increase this program, looking ahead at the next confederation and World Cups to make sure we have completely players competing in our competitions again, in competing and out of competition tests with blood tests, with biological passports, so I think there are some progress which is done and we need to embrace this program in football as well."

    "There is sometimes some wind blowing against but this is normal when you embrace change and reform and it makes you stronger, and the support I receive - particularly in Africa - makes me feel more proud and more reassured that I am on the right track."
