Olympic Torch goes surfing

Friday, August 05 2016 by SNTV
  • A cheering crowd watched Brazilian surfer Rico Souza bearing the Olympic torch as he surfed along Pontal beach in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday (4th August).

Handling the Olympic torch is a delegate process, but to do it whilst jumping from jet ski to jet ski and then hoping on a surf board, well it's even more difficult.

That's what Brazilian surfer, Rico Souza did though as the Olympic torch continued its journey through Rio on Thursday, passing by Macumba and Pontal beaches.

Crowds on the beach cheered and applauded as surfer Souza surfed with the torch before running onto the shore.

Excited fans carried Souza on their shoulders as he held the torch after he got back to the beach and then promised the most beautiful games in the world were about to begin.
