  • British rugby sevens silver medal winners were received on Friday evening (12th August), at the GB House in Rio de Janeiro after losing the first ever Olympic final of the sport against Fiji on Thursday (11th August).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tom Mitchell, Team GB men's rugby sevens captain:

"It's been amazing. Right from the beginning we were making history with what we were doing. Coming together for the first ever GB men's side. So we've been kind of relishing that right from the start. And this has been a real good way to end it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mark Robertson, Team GB men's rugby sevens squad:

"For us it was an achievement to get into the squad. I don't think we could even put it into words. It was something we hadn't really thought about 18 months ago. And it was sort of sprung upon us. When we got together things have just moved forward so quickly, and it's been such a special experience I think we are all really tight as a group now. There's also the experience of the village, of other athletes as well. Yeah it's been pretty awesome."
