France coach Didier Deschamps has named his first squad without Patrice Evra for the next two games; a friendly against Italy (1st September) and a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Belarus (6th September).

"I have nothing to demand of Karim or any other players, but even if he (Karim Benzema) had been available today I would not have taken selected him, because I don;t think it's the right moment for him to be back in the French team.

"Patrice Evra remains a high quality player - he played every game at the Euros and he plays for Juventus, so I know what he's capable of. The World Cup is in two years, it means two more years for him, for him to maintain the level which he is at today "
