Serena: Feeling the pressure

Sunday, August 28 2016 by SNTV
  • Angelique Kerber, Garbine Muguruza and Serena Williams looked ahead on Friday (26th August) to the 136th US Open.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Serena Williams:

"I try to be as efficient as I can out on the court. That's not always possible. But I just feel like my game has matured a lot overall, and mentally sometimes I definitely do put a little more pressure on myself than I did a long time ago, or even not that long ago. I also think that's a good thing, because I only expect the best from myself."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Garbine Muguruza:

"Well, I feel obviously great that people from Latin America, Spain, and a little bit from everywhere - they look at us, look at all the players like a reference and a way of, you know, achieving something in life, like something you want to become being successful. So I feel very happy and honored to feel like that, if that's the case. And for sure I'm very happy that Latin America there is a lot of girls maybe want to start playing tennis, so they have maybe more for people to look at. That's great."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelique Kerber:

"I mean, I was happy for her. I mean, that was I think one of her best weeks of her career. She played a great tournament so she deserve it at the end. I was happy for her, but of course I was first a little bit disappointed. But at the end, I mean, she won the gold medal and I was not losing it. I won my silver. I have my medal, but I was always dreaming and, yeah, well done for her."
