Chelsea too strong - Dyche

  • Burnley manager Sean Dyche reflected on Chelsea's 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (27th August)

SOUNDBITE: (English) Burnley manager, Sean Dyche (on Burnley's performance):

"Both I thought - the first half was as poor as we've been for a year I think. But against a very very strong group, you know, you don't have to look much further than the subs they bought on to realise how strong that group is. There's huge gulf between where we are as a club and where we are as a club. But of course when the whistle blows you want to be ready to perform and we weren't. We didn't perform well at all in the first half and you simply can't do that. Add in some really poor decisions against a great side then you are going to be in trouble and we were. Second half marginally better. The changes were good. I was pleased to see Aiden O'Neill, 18-year-old on the field in the Premier League - fantastic. Really pleased with that, held his own. Johan (Johan Guomundsson) did well when he came on so I was pleased. 'Tarky' (James Tarkowski) coming on to the midfield is an interesting one - but that's where we are at the moment. So they kept going but nowhere near really in the bigger picture. They were too strong today."
