(on beginning his 18th season with Roma and if it will be his last):

"Last season I felt like a strong football player, and I had the same feeling this morning too. I must prove this the whole year. I don't like to take any decision one year before…. Monchi (A.S Roma Sporting director), who showed me great personality and knowledge of football, came to me at the end of the last season and told me that I won't have any privilege but they are counting on me. We have not talked about two or three years, or about any coach or anything inside the club. He asked me the same question they made me two years ago in San Luis. Do you like this kind of questions? (He speaks to the journalist who asked the question) I have answered in the same way… To play a great season and then to decide. I am not looking for new contracts…. Thankfully, I have earned a lot of money in my career. I would like to have a great season, and I would like to win some important title with this team. I am not afraid of play with 37, 38, 39 or even 45 year-old …. Until I don't feel I cannot play football, I want to carry on. I prefer to be me the one who decide when to stop playing football. It's going to be football who is going to let me know when to leave some space (to the new players).
