Reports in Italy claim Tottenham have opened talks with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte over the vacant managerial position.

Tottenham have held initial talks with Antonio Conte over the vacant managerial position, newspaper reports in Italy claim. The Italian has guided Inter Milan to the Scudetto this season to end his former club Juventus' dominance following nine consecutive Serie A titles.

Conte conquered the Premier League in his first season at Chelsea back in 2016/17, winning the title at his first attempt.

He then moved on at the end of the following season despite winning the FA Cup with the Blues with a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

The 51-year-old remains settled at Inter despite tensions behind the scenes earlier this season but that hasn't stopped Tottenham from taking an interest in Conte.

In today's print edition of newspaper Corriere dello Sport, it's claimed that Tottenham have moved to speak with Conte.

Allegedly, he has refused to rule out the possibility of a move to north London while reaffirming his commitment to Spurs.

The talks are said to have even reached a point where the two parties were discussing the current Tottenham squad.

Conte is due to sit down at the end of the season with Inter to discuss his future.

Both Tottenham and Conte have agreed to sit down again when the time is right and once the picture becomes clearer.

Spurs are also said to be in contact with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 63-year-old veteran is unlucky to leave his position with Atalanta though as he targets the Serie A title.

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri is another option on the table for Tottenham.

He too managed Chelsea in the 2018/19 season before parting company with the Blues after just one season.

Tottenham's options have already been whittled down after a number of their top targets ruled themselves out of the running.

Julian Naglesmann, Brendan Rodgers and Erik ten Hag are all now out of contention.

Spurs intend to have their new manager sorted before the end of this season.

The clarity will give Spurs their best chance of keeping Harry Kane, who could leave at the end of the season.
