Rubim's appointment as Benin coach overturned

COTONOU, Benin (AFP) - Brazilian coach Jose Paulo Rubim will not become coach of the Benin national side due to financial restrictions, a Beninese Football Federation (FBF) source revealed on Monday.
"Mr Rubim will not be able to lead the national team. The minister of sports says the state does not have the financial means to recruit him," an FBF official told AFP, under condition of anonymity.
"The minister has therefore asked the federation to put in place a team of Beninese coaches with a view to the qualifying matches for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations."
Rubim was originally named Benin coach in early June.
He replaced Frenchman Michael Dussuyer, who was sacked following the side's group-stage exit at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in January.
