Ross lifts Blue Toon

David Ross's second-half strike was enough to give Peterhead a narrow 1-0 win over bottom-placed Dumbarton.
After a disappointing first-half, with limited goalscoring opportunities, proceedings livened up four minutes after the break when Ross gave Peterhead a deserved lead with an 18-yard strike after good work from Martin Bavidge.
The home side pushed for a second and Graeme Sharp could have scored, but his shot was brilliantly parried by goalkeeper Stephen Grindley.
Dumbarton had a couple of chances late on to snatch a point. Substitute Mark Gilhaney fired over from 20 yards and Martin McNiff headed wide.
Ross's strike gave Peterhead a vital three points and moves them out of the relegation zone.
