Alloa striker Jim Lister has recovered from a flu bug that has been doing the rounds to keep his place in manager Allan Maitland's squad for the visit of league leaders Brechin City on Saturday.

Midfielder Brown Ferguson remains on the sidelines through injury, though, as does striker Stuart Noble with fellow forward Bryan Prunty a serious doubt after picking up a knock in training this week.

The Wasps boss is doubly keen that his men win, knowing they can keep the heat on Brechin if they take the points.

He said: "We could really do with winning this game to close the gap on Brechin to one point. We do not want to fall any further back at this stage of the season."

Brechin City boss Jim Weir has brought striker Mark Archdeacon back to Glebe Park for a second stint and he has also added Aberdeen youngster Anthony Bolger on loan.

Star striker Rory McAllister is beginning a two-game ban and Weir has thrown down a challenge to the rest of his squad to prove their worth without him.

He said: "Alloa are a team full of excellent players who I expect to be challenging us for the title throughout the season.

"They will also be out to avenge the defeat we gave them at our place where Rory was instrumental in that win and the rest of the guys have the chance to show that they can win games without him being in the team."
