Stenny surprise Pars

Posted Sunday, November 16, 2014 by PA

Stenhousemuir bounced back from a run of three straight defeats to upset high-flying Dunfermline with a 1-0 Scottish League One win at Ochilview Park.

The home side twice hit the woodwork in the first half, with Kris Faulds striking powerfully against the crossbar and Colin McMenamin seeing his effort bounce back off the left post.

Dunfermline also went close in the opening period when Jamie Reid's shot hit the underside of the bar, while Ross Forbes and Alex Whittle had shots saved soon after the interval.

The Pars had to bring on substitute goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow after Ryan Scully was felled with a shoulder charge and Faulds finally broke the deadlock for the Warriors after 71 minutes when slotting a right-foot shot into the bottom-left corner of the net after a McMenamin cross.
