Granada CF 0 - 1 Leganes: Late Leganes goal heaps more misery on Granada

Alexander Szymanowski's late goal was enough to earn Leganes a 1-0 win over managerless Granada at Los Carmenes.

The visitors, who are playing in LaLiga for the first time in their history this season, should have gone in front after five minutes but Gabriel headed wide of the goal from six yards out. Leganes winger Omar Ramos saw his effort saved by Granada goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa before the hosts had their first effort of the match through Javi Marquez but his shot sailed wide.

Granada, who sacked coach Paco Jemez on Wednesday, came close to taking the lead after 66 minutes but Leganes goalkeeper Jon Ander Serantes got a hand on Andreas Pereira's strike from distance.

With both sides failing to make a breakthrough, Asier Garitano's side took the lead 10 minutes later when Robert Ibanez set up Szymanowski on the counter-attack before the Argentinian's shot across goal beat the outstretched hand of Ochoa.

Artem Kravets was inches away from scoring an equaliser three minutes from time as the on-loan Dynamo Kiev striker leaped highest to meet David Barral's cross but missed the target from close range.

Szymanowski had a shot blocked in stoppage time as the visitors earned their third win of the campaign. Granada remain winless after seven games.

Leganes will host Sevilla after the international break while Granada travel to title-chasing Atletico Madrid.
